Calm seems to be back in Dakar’s streets since today. After the announcement of the official candidates for the 26th February presidential elections, among them the current president Abdoulaye Wade, several cities set in fire. It must be said that the candidacy of the super star Youssou N’dour has not been considered , which triggers a lot of dissatisfaction.
Though the situation appears to dissipate, Senegalese remain angry. By the way the opposition called to a march on palace. As for him Abdoulaye Wade, the lawyer who describes these initiatives as “ displays of petulance” seems to be self-confident “ a few thousands of individuals cannot hostage 12 millions of Senegalese”. However, the few thousands of individuals, under the banner of M23 had succeed to sway the president who was about to vote a law that would have enable him to be elected with only 25% of votes. A challenge with a taste of victory that will surely carry away opponents to Abdoulaye Wade’s candidacy.
